Welcome to my Blog

Hello everyone!

My name is Mateo and I’m a high school student in my senior year studying Mathematics and Natural sciences in Dubrovnik. This blog was created along my YouTube channel and here I’ll share bits of my life, what books I’m reading, what art projects I’m working on, what computer science concepts I’m trying to grasp…

Main motivation behind this are actually people from my day to day life. I get questions like: “How do you manage to do all so much in a day?”, “How do you have so much motivation?”, “What are you taking?” And I figured if so much people just around my small social circle need help with these topics maybe I can start writing and filming tips and tools I use to stay productive and motivated.

I wasn’t always a hard working kid, two years ago you would not find me even thinking about making educational content on internet nor developing a personal website. I was told by my teachers that I’m wasting my potential (as if that mattered to me at the age of 12) and their push was necessary for me to do anything past what was expected. Despite that lack of discipline I never struggled at school, I had the best grades, got into the hardest high school in town and life was great.

In my second year of high school teachers went on a strike that lasted a good part of the fall. Everyone was at home, doing nothing watching Netflix whole day. I was mostly working out, going out and drawing and painting, so I wasn’t bored but somethings just felt wrong. I was missing some structure that school provided. Doing fun stuff all day quickly gets boring and I wanted something that would challenge me and excite me. So I went on Udemy and bought myself two courses – Python masterclass and an introduction to Blender 3D. I started to organize my time more thoughtfully and motivation came back.

And then school started again.

It went on for whole 3 months before covid-19 happened. And everyone was in lockdown and again, home and bored. Here the schedule I created during the strike turned out to be useful since studying at home without a structured plan is a mess.

School was almost non-existant so I spent that time learning things that interested me, I expanded my computer science knowledge, went into depth on digital 3D and ended up getting into game development. With all that came managing training, social life and family time so naturally I tried to get as much of the time I have as possible.

Next school year started ambitiously but soon covid-19 came again and lockdown was on. This must sound horrible but during that period my life really went great, better than ever if I can say. School was great because I developed a good program that allowed me to spend the least amount of time studying for the best results, I met new interesting friends, started cycling, learned a bunch of new skills and improved the ones I already had, started freelancing and after that got a remote job that I’m still doing, as a 17 year old having not even finished high school.

And so we came to now, making a blog and a YouTube channel while being in school and working full time, terrifying. But diamonds are built under pressure and I want to share what diamonds I built in the last two years and everything I’m building right now.

If you’re interested in art, be it digital or traditional, compute science from data structures to artificial intelligence to game dev, or just personal development and how to live a happier, more successful and productive life you came to the right place and I hope I can provide you with something useful!
